Since 1986, the jungle has been designated as a conservation area by the central government, with the status of Wildlife Reserve.

In the Rimbang Baling area there are also many endangered species protected. Rare animals that inhabit Rimbang Baling include Sumatran Tigers, Forest Goats, Hornbills, Ungko and also some species of wildcat. With the ongoing encroachments in Rimbang Baling, it is feared that these endangered species will lose their natural habitat.

The beauty of Rimbang Baling's charm, this area is also drained by one of the major rivers in Riau Province, namely the Subayang River. Subayang River is the lifeblood of life in Rimbang Baling. The river that originates in West Sumatra Province is also the only transportation access used by the people in Rimbang Baling. The Subayang River is also a vital asset for the availability of clean water to support life around it from upstream to downstream. The river which empties into the Kampar River has alira water that is very clear and ropes on its upstream part when the water is receding, so it is very suitable to be used as a white water rafting attraction, both Body Rafting and rubber boats.

Rimbang Baling saves a lot of beauty, besides its natural beauty, local culture and local wisdom can also be an interesting object to be enjoyed. Communities in the area are indigenous people who have inhabited Balancing Baling for hundreds of years. A lot of local wisdom is very unique and interesting that can be used as a tourist attraction. One of them is the local wisdom of 'Lubuk Larangan'.

"Lubuk Larangan" is the local wisdom of the local community, in the form of an agreement not to catch fish in rivers that have been given certain limits. The aim is to preserve the diversity in the river, especially the typical fish in Rimbang Baling. At the appointed time, the community guided by customary stakeholders will harvest together in the bottom of the ban. The fish caught will be distributed to the entire village community. The momentum of the Lubuk ban harvest by the local community called "Mancokou Ikan Lubuok" This ban can be a main attraction for tourists who want to visit.

By empowering the community with its local wisdom, it is hoped that it can encourage and support natural conservation efforts in Rimbang Baling. Developing natural tourism is one alternative that can be done so that people get economic added value from the forest without encroachment. Thus, the community can also be invited to participate to help preserve the forest.
